What the hell was that? I can’t tell what Boone is whining about.

Ms Iwana,
I think you may be as pessimistic as Mr Boone here. Sure, modern times are scarier and more confusing than when Walter Cronkite could sum it all up in 30 minutes.

FYI, search the WEB for a poorly covered story of Huntersville, NC., Koch affiliated, pipeline disaster. Don’t be like Huntersville!
1.3 million gallons of gas closing down water wells!

Why do these crime shows make the victim look like a saint when she is complicit in her own murder? She tried to extort money for a nonexistent baby.

We really need to stop messing around and hire more police and other first responders instead of creating an artificial hinderance because prospects may not chose to live in Shelby County. In addition to needless lives lost because of this city's inability or unwillingness to deal with criminals, Memphis has "earned" a reputation as a criminals paradise.

SO WELL WRITTEN. Reading THIS made me think of the "Swain" I grew to love 🥰 He was an AMAZING man and I got a chance to hear the stories he used to tell me, about his long, full life.❤.

First of all, Joel Fitzgerald can't seem to hold a job. Along those lines there are others from out of town.

Jeff, aside from opening up the gates how would we improve policing? Is the reduced field of applicants the sole cause of cause of deficits?

If the line at Taylor Grocery is unbearable, I would recommend a river float after Enid Lake expands to save the goddamn precious Delta, and the Yocona (kinda pronounced Yocknee) over flows into a semblance of mangrove swamp where I hunt the elusive Yalobusha gator… or vice versa, though none longer than 6.5 feet have been encountered, albeit he was pretty beat up so there may be an even bigger one or at least meaner, so the smaller the kayak the better for swamping, but should be over 6.5 feet long.

Well, I dunno but I imagine if there were alligators in Yoknapatawpha, old Bill would've wrote about it, so consider the source.

Otherwise I've got just two words for you- Dyers Burg. As long as you are coming to or from Reelfoot (I am particularly fond of Samburg and its Motel), then you might as well stop in, the aforementioned.

I survived a relationship with a beautiful young woman from DB many years ago after which I had learned that should you need to kick, kick fast and run, or swim.

Racists in memphis still can't wrap their heads around the american principle of home rule. Only a memphian is an acceptable candidate; no outsider is capable of understanding the nuances of memphis.

Interesting, I find myself agreeing with both crack and FUNK. Management wants the grunt cops to be homies, no need to apply if you want to live in Olive Branch or T county, but wants the chief to be from out of town since MPD evidently cannot grow their own leaders, or at least according to our city "leadership."
Now, let's have a cold hard look at our selves.

Everyone here has good points, a few.

Geography and identity don't necessarily make good cops.
